Post-doctoral Researcher

ana-maria.salai@northumbria.ac.uk

I am currently working as a senior research assistant in CoCreate and the Health and Life Sciences Department, working in collaboration with Home Group. At present, I am exploring the application of sensors and devices to promote independent living in the context of smart modular homes and to support individuals with learning disabilities, autism and those within transforming care programmes. My research lies in the area of assistive technologies and co-design. I have a background in Computer Science and I am currently completing my PhD at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. My thesis contributes to the field of Human-Computer Interaction by investigating whether a user-centered designed mobile phone application is a suitable technology to assist people suffering from Overactive Bladder symptoms in managing their condition.
