I’m an early career researcher in the second year of Masters of Research Design. My research interests primarily lie in transgender and non-binary representation in fictional film and TV, with an emphasis on how non-human characters are coded as non-binary and how cisgender characters become representative of the transgender community.
My goal is, through textual analysis and an ethnographic stance, to create a coding scheme that defines what we currently see as non-binary traits and experiences, to be able to identify consequences that the use of these implicit traits has on the non-binary community, and the societal impact.
