Nick Spencer
Associate Professor of Design Innovation
Associate Professor of Design Innovation now has a permanent desk in 201. His research is interested in the application of design to navigate contested futures within complex social and organisational situations contributing to our understanding of Design for Social Innovation. Through a practice approach this research explores how capabilities can be developed and embedded that initiate desirable transition and help non-design experts to continue an appropriate design practice within their professional or community setting. Spencer helps lead a network of researchers and practitioners as part of the COST Action (CA18236) investigating design approaches to Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship and supports the DESIS Lab at Northumbria as part of the international network Design for Social Innovation for Sustainability.
