How do we negotiate practices across disciplines? 
What can we learn through building shared working practices and methods?

Last month, CNoS hosted the Ways of Working workshop at the Experimental Studio, BALTIC39 and Ellison Lab 314, Northumbria University. With a focus on process not outcome, practitioners across the arts, sciences and humanities shared their working methods and explored collaborative practice in both the studio and the lab. Themes explored ranged from our consumption of coffee and its impact on the landscape to the ethics of pregnancy and maternal care. Key to the event however was attention to the similarities and differences in method, leading to insights around process, structure, chance, spontaneity and creative tools. An immense amount was achieved in one day with collaborations continuing beyond the event itself. A huge thanks to all our amazing participants and to the Biochemical Society, Biomedical Science at Northumbria University and Newcastle University’s Institute for Creative Arts Practice for supporting this event.
