It aimed to create a sustainable, UK-wide, public health sequencing network that would provide knowledge, expertise, and facilities to sequence and analyse SARS-CoV-2 genomes. NU-OMICS was matched to seven hospital diagnostic labs in the North East of England:<\/span><\/p><ul style=\"font-size: 15px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\"><li style=\"font-size: 15px;\">North Cumbria Integrative Care<\/li><li style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Newcastle University Healthcare Trust<\/li><li style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Northumbria NHS Foundation Trust<\/li><li style=\"font-size: 15px;\">North Tees NHS Foundation Trust<\/li><li style=\"font-size: 15px;\">South Tees NHS Foundation Trust<\/li><li style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust<\/li><li style=\"font-size: 15px;\">Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust<\/li><\/ul><div>In addition, during this time, NU-OMICS scaled to support the regional COVID-19 Lighthouse Lab in Gateshead. Professor Chris Witty came by NU-OMICS during his visit to Northumbria University.
