Aims:<\/h3>\n

There are two strands to this Learning Circle:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Celebrating, recognising and rewarding teaching<\/li>\n
  2. Developing and supporting teaching<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This Learning Circle aims to investigate policy and practice at Northumbria, nationally and globally for the development, support, celebration, recognition and reward of teaching, with a view to developing policies and practice that:<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    1. Celebrating, recognising and rewarding teaching:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Raise the profile of teaching and education.<\/li>\n
    • Celebrate teaching excellence.<\/li>\n
    • Recognise and reward teaching.<\/li>\n
    • Promote parity of research and teaching.<\/li>\n
    • Support teaching\/education career development.<\/li>\n
    • Consider how teaching and education is recognised and rewarded in recruitment, probation, PDA and promotion.<\/li>\n
    • Recognise and celebrate the contribution of technical and professional support staff to teaching and education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

       <\/p>\n

      2. Developing and supporting teaching:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Promote collaboration to enhance practice, specifically through mentoring and peer observation and support (PSF V5).<\/li>\n
      • Develop guidelines and good practices for teaching mentoring.<\/li>\n
      • Develop policy and practice for Northumbria\u2019s Peer Observation and Support \u00a0Scheme.<\/li>\n
      • Provide support for specific teaching roles, including PG supervision, and support for international colleagues, and for particular groups, including professional and technical staff and PGRs who teach.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
