Our Research in Your World

Our research projects

This website provides an insight into just some of the wider collaborative project work of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences at Northumbria University.

Our public-facing research activities fall into five main categories or “clusters”.

Arts & Heritage

The Arts & Heritage Cluster collaborates with external partners. We design and deliver exhibitions, events and activities that enrich communities and improve wellbeing.

Commercial

Our Private and Commercial Impact Cluster builds relationships with non-governmental organizations seeking to innovate from our research. This helps them achieve their corporate objectives.

Crime & Policing

The Centre's members engage with public, private, and third-sector organisations. They aim to influence policy and practice with innovative, high-impact research that tackles pressing societal problems.

Education

Humanities and Social Sciences staff are involved in many projects with schools, colleges, universities, exam boards, and other teaching and learning organisations.

Policy

Through their research, staff in the Humanities and Social Sciences regularly engage with the policy-making community. These include UK and international non-governmental organisations, pressure groups, central and local government, Parliament, and other institutions. administration.
