Ecologies Workshop 2024

The second online workshop of our project focused on ‘Ecologies’ and was  held in conjunction with the School of Liberal Arts (SoLA) at the Institute of Indian Technology in Jodhpur on April 26 2024. The workshop explored the epistemological, literary and sovereign orders of desert ecologies.

The workshop was facilitated by Deborah Sutton, and featured presentations of work-in-progress by Aiden Tynan and Tanuja Kothiyal, followed by an open discussion. Aiden’s work considered the limits of ecological thought in how deserts are conceptualized, while Tanuja’s reflected on the themes of migration and mobility in the Thar desert.

Speakers:

Aiden Tynan, School of English, Communication and Philosophy, Cardiff University, ‘Desert, Wasteland, and the Limits of Ecological Thought’.

Tanuja Kothiyal, School of Liberal Studies, Ambedkar University Delhi, ‘Migration and Mobility in the Thar Desert’.
