Our research is grounded in the application of skills and knowledge from a number of areas of design research expertise. The School’s world leading technical facilities and knowledge means we have a foundation in the practice of making objects, artefacts, garments and visual communication, while also having the expertise to address the contemporary and emerging challenges of designing for services, for complex social interventions, and for interconnected digital systems. Our expertise within the design discipline means our research often offers new methodologies and approaches to design, especially in relation to co-creation, practice-based research through design, design fiction, and multidisciplinary design innovation.
