Anthony Forsyth
Senior Lecturer
I worked as an industrial designer in commercial practice for several years before joining Northumbria University. I completed a BA in Furniture Design followed by an MFA at Konstfack, Stockholm.
I have worked in both Sweden and Denmark on design projects with clients ranging from major global companies such as Philips, IKEA and McDonalds to design-led brands such as Carhartt and Luceplan. My work has covered branding, packaging, service and product design.
I have a number of products in production. Other projects have been exhibited internationally including several exhibitions at the Danish Design Centre. The Book lamp was selected for Why Design Now the Design Triennial at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York.
I am currently doing a PhD addressing the poetic content of design artefacts; Applied poetics – a theoretical and practical investigation of meaning in designed artefacts with special reference to consumer lighting and solid-state technologies.
