Clair Aldington
Doctoral Researcher
Clair was trained by Oxfordshire Youth Offending Service (YOS) and Thames Valley Police as a Restorative Justice (RJ) Practitioner in 2002 and is also an artist-maker. She worked for six years with Oxfordshire YOS and in 2008 co-founded Space2face. Space2face became an independent charity and won a Restorative Practices UK award (criminal justice) in 2016 for its creative approaches to RJ. In 2017, she was awarded AHRC PhD funding.
As a freelance practitioner from 1995-2006, Clair made and sold her own work and delivered residencies in a prison, an immigration removal centre, women’s refuges, care homes and schools, working with regional and national organisations, such as Women’s Aid. She completed her MA (Contemporary Arts and Music) in 2004. From 2006-2007 Clair was a Creative Arts Development Worker in Youth Justice – a regional post as part of a national pilot with the Youth Justice Board and Arts Council England. She worked as an Arts Development Officer with Shetland Arts (2007-2015), as a freelancer managing public art projects and with the British Council from 2015-2017.
