Sequencing Platforms

At NU-OMICS, we have several different short-read and long-read sequencing platforms from Illumina, Pacific Biosciences, and Oxford Nanopore available at our disposal to meet a range of research needs.

Pacific Bioscience

For high-fidelity (Hi-Fi) long-read sequencing, we offer library preparation services for the Revio from PacBio.

Revio

NU-OMICS is one of the few sequencing facilities in the UK that currently has the PacBio Revio. Using SPRQ chemistry, the Revio can produce up to 120 GB of high-fidelity long-read sequences for various applications such as whole genome sequencing, metagenomics, and full length 16S.

Illumina

For high quality short-read sequencing, we offer library preparation services that can be run on our three platforms from Illumina.

MiSeq

The Illumina MiSeq provides up to 8.5 Gb of data with the V2 chemistry and 15 Gb of data with the V3 chemistry.

NovaSeq 6000

Depending on read length, the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 produces between 65 and 3000 GB of data.

MiSeq i100

Recently released, the new Illumina MiSeq i100 produces up to 30 GB of data.

Oxford Nanopore

For long-read sequencing, we offer library preparation services compatible with two platforms from Oxford Nanopore.

GridION

The GridION is compatible with FLONGLE flow cells suitable for smaller (2.6 GB), rapid tests.

PromethION P2 SOLO

The PromethION can provide 100-200 GB of data on a single flow cell.
