NU-OMICS was amongst the first in the UK to install the PacBio Sequel sequencing system in 2016. We currently run projects on the PacBio Revio.
PacBio produces high-fidelity (Hi-Fi) reads using single-molecule, real-time, sequencing technology. This offers a powerful approach to de novo genome assembly using long-reads with excellent consensus accuracy and uniform coverage.
The new SPRQ chemistry has improved data output while decreasing DNA input requirements, enabling improvement across a wide range of applications. Whole genome sequencing

Full length 16S rRNA gene sequencing
- Using Kinnex technology to concatenate small amplicons into larger fragments for higher throughput
